What you should know about search engine optimization

Internet has opened the world of endless opportunities for everyone. From big companies having over thousand employees to single one-man company, almost every company these days is doing online business -- though some may not be very successful at it. The reason being such companies mistakenly believe that, by just having a website, they would be able to make their presence felt on the Net, and do roaring online business. This is far from true, as billions of websites exit on the Net. The Search Engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN, AltaVista, etc., may not be able to properly index and list them on the Net. And even if they may be listed and indexed, they may not receive the attention or the priority in Search Engine's list.

Here, Search Engine Optimization comes into picture. But what's Search Engine Optimization? It is a process by which you increase the chances of your website catching the attention of search engines. You could do it through various ways; for example, by developing good content, using intelligent keywords, placing your keywords at strategic positions in your website, having links to and from relevant websites, submitting websites to relevant directories, submitting articles and blogs, and pay-per-click.

Sadly, while people give a lot of attention in taking care of other business factors, few give their websites the attention they deserve. Even if they may give attention to their websites, they often do not give much attention to the web content, which mainly decides the overall ranking of websites. I know some people who just put the content of their business brochures, leaflets and other publicity materials on the Net believing they have done the needful.

This is a very poor way of having online content. Websites demand a different approach, different type of content. Then, off course, the content should be search engine and user friendly, meaning they should be intelligently woven around important keywords. The better you use keywords; the better is the chance of the search engines locating them. But one must not overdo the use of keywords, as most of the websites are known to do. Here, the role of a good content writer assumes a lot of significance. A good content writer knows how and where to use keywords and keyphrases for the best possible results.

Link building, as discussed before, is another method of having a good ranking on search engines' lists. Websites must build good links with only relevant sites. This brings traffic to your website, and your search ranking increases. But again a word of caution: though one must have good links with as many websites as possible for better results, one must have links with only those websites that are similar in nature (product and services) with the website in question. For instance, if you have a website on clay pottery paintings, you must have links with only such websites that have something in common with your product. You surely must not have links with, say, fast food products or music companies, though they may have a very god presence on the web.

A good search engine optimization company would ensure that your website has reciprocal links with only relevant websites. Search engines, lately, have become very intelligent; they may very well see through your unfair strategy and may even blacklist you. Besides, even surfers may not kindly take to this sort of cheap gimmicks, and may leave your website -- possibly never to return again. So ethical and organic search engine optimization is the need of the hour. Pay-per-click has an edge over other search engine optimization techniques as it brings traffic and increase search engine rankings of a website rather fast. One must avail of the services of only those SEO experts, who have a proven record in SEO optimization services. A good SEO company would tell you that organic website optimization, which is ethical vis--vis inorganic website optimization, is the best method to bring more traffic to your website. Organic website optimization involves ethical search engine optimization methods like: webpage optimization, content optimization, press releases and link building. Inorganic website optimization may appear attractive they are not good for your long-term interests. For it often involves employing unethical methods for which the search engines may black list the website.

Overview:

*Proper marketing and optimization of websites are necessary to attract traffic. *Organic search engine optimization is safe and better over inorganic search engine optimization. *Organic search engine optimization involves intelligent reciprocal linking, submitting articles and blogs in directories, developing good keyword rich content and pay-per-click. *Companies with a proven record in ethical search engines optimization services must be employed to bring more traffic to websites and increase overall search engine rankings.

Suicide in Cyberspace -Your Outward Links Can Kill Your Rankings

Link building strategies have, for most people for a long time, revolved around reciprocal link exchanges. Whilst most people understand that links are important, they generally don't understand why this is so. In a nutshell, a link to your site has traditionally been accepted by Search Engines as a vote for your site. A link from a topic or theme-related site to yours is better than a link from a site having a completely different topic. An important site's link to yours carries more weight - for example from The Open Directory, or Yahoo Directory. All pretty straightforward...

BUT... the rules have changed... significantly! All the thinking webmasters worked diligently to build links - willy-nilly - in order to subvert the search engine rankings and gain an advantage to themselves at the expense of everyone else. For a long time, there have been mutterings about this, and comments from Google staffers about possible penalties from linking to "bad neighbourhoods'" and - heaven forbids it - buying links! Google et al simply don't approve of willy-nilly link-building schemes, and have recently tightened the screws a bit more, in two notable ways...

Bad Links Some links are bad... for example, if you are a car sales company and you've got dozens of completely irrelevant links to international hotel sites... yeah, YOU know the ones! in Prague, Munich, Shanghai etc! That's a BAD neighbourhood over there! That IS going to put a world of hurt on you! And as for the Free For All link sites, web rings, and 3 way link schemes... that's just suicide in cyberspace! Why? Coz its a blatant and completely indefensible attempt at cheating the system!

Reciprocal Links - Almost a Waste of Effort

Reciprocal links are still of some value, providing the link titles are explicit, and if the page they link to you from has a higher Page Rank than the page from which you link to them. The concept of a link to you being a vote for you, and being added to your site's Total Vote Count has a flip side. A link from you to someone else essentially deducts one vote from your total vote count... meaning its value is minimal when compared to a 1-way incoming back-link!

1-way Outward Links Are Toxic

Ok, lets assume you are a service provider, maybe a health clinic, and you deal with hospitals, other doctors, specialists, nurses, laboratories. So, as a benefit to your visitors, you place direct links to their web resources on your links page. Is that clever?

Most certainly it is NOT! Transfusion time, because you'll be haemorrhaging Page Rank with nothing in return! Do it, but be smart about it, because there is NOTHING to be gained (by you) from linking to any site that does not link back. So make sure your links include the "nofollow" attribute that tells SE's that the link is NOT a vote by your site for that site!

Link Content Is Mission Critical

This is mission critical because Google and other have decided that they can't trust you to be honest about your site! Basically, it seems like there are two web tribes - those who know not so much about how things work, and those who know more than they should. There should also be a flourishing third tribe, who just build great sites with lots of terrific content that automatically ranks highly - but nobody's seen nuthin' from those guys for ages!

The tribe who know more than they should ruthlessly manipulate every available loophole to dominate search engine rankings, at the expense of those who have yet to read SEO For Dummies. Therefore, Google decided that its essential that there is some external correlation between what YOU say your site is about, and what OTHER people say your site is about... This is done by analysing the words in the Link Title on all links pointing to your site. Bottom line here is - if a keyword phrases does NOT appear on links to your site, you ain't gonna rank for that phrase!

For many established sites, this is the main reason they might have experienced a noticeable decline in rankings in the last few months. Most older sites will have a majority of incoming links based on their business name, and NOT on their activities / products / services / location etc. To use the common "widgets" analogy - if you are selling "widgets" and all your incoming link Titles have your only business name e.g. Smiths Manufacturing Co Ltd, its now very difficult for you to rank for "widgets"!

Backlink analysis reveals this shortcoming rather quickly and, lucky for you, it is possible to remedy this by building 1-way incoming back-links using multiple Title / Description combinations that contain a good spread of relevant keywords. It does require some keyword research, and it is tedious - but if you don't do it, you are certainly not going forwards! But your competitors might be...

What is SEO: Myth or Reality? Some Thoughts on Search Engine Optimization

What is SEO? Have you ever though about what you are trying to achieve with search engine optimization, and what you were doing with your website to achieve it? Have you never wondered if there were better ways to get to where you want to be as a result of SEO?

I have - frequently. And I have looked closely at what I am doing with my website and whether or not it improves it. In fact, it is not your website that your have to optimize, but each individual web page. I have come to the conclusion that as Google, in particular, make changes to their requirements in order that you get a high listing - or listed at all for that matter - the less I have to do to optimize my website.

In fact, when I look closely, what I do in SEO these days is simply common sense, and what I should be doing is to design my site to the advantage of my customers. I have had people write to me proclaiming to be SEO experts and criticizing my bad HTML. 'Crap' it was called by one, yet my website with 'crap' HTML is higher in the search engine listings that theirs. Perhaps they can't find the right keywords, but they are the experts.

So HTML is not important. We are told that Meta tags are no longer important. So what is left? Ensuring that each page's title is the same as the keyword it is written round - well, that is just common sense. That is what I would do anyway, so that my visitors would know what the page was about. I should also put these in H1 tags. Ok, that's simple to do. Nothing mystical there.

What else? Oh, yes. The keyword density. Surprise, surprise, the ideal is to have your keyword once in the first 100 characters and again in the last paragraph of a page with 400 - 500 words. Any more words than that, then put it in once again. Don't believe anybody that tells you that you must have 1% - 3% keyword density. That means 5 - 15 keywords in a 500 word page! That's old hat and a fast way to search engine oblivion. These days are over.

There's not much left of classical SEO to worry about. The two majors that I have left to consider are internal and external linking strategies. Let's look at external links first. They are important, and Google have stated so, but for how long? There are rumors that back-links are going to become less important since content is now taking second place to artificially formed links.

At one time, Google looked upon links back to your site from another as a sign that your site was considered to be an authority on the subject. I will use the word 'site', but it should really be 'page' since the Google term is PageRank, and refers to individual web pages, not complete web sites. And rightly so, because if a website thought that your content would be useful to their readers then they would provide them with a link to your relevant web page.

Now, however, links are artificially generated, sometimes software generated, and are effectively useless since, although they appear on a website, they do so from a so-called 'links' page that is full of nothing but masses of links. Now, the very websites that links and good keyword density were meant to shove off the web are now appearing back at the top of the listings. No content but masses of links. Google know this, and will likely take some action against it.

Internal linking is a separate subject, and one on which I specialize. The arrangement of your web pages, and design of your internal linking, are critical to achieving good listings on search engines. Not only your internal linking strategy, but also the design of each individual page. There are certain sites that will not get into the top 10 without radical changes, and I have one or two of them due to the content that I want on each site and the function that I want them to serve. Eventually they will as I increase the number of pages, but for the meantime I am not too bothered. I get plenty of traffic anyway.

So that got me to thinking again. Why should I bother much with SEO if all I need do is to design my website logically and make sure that my internal links provide the best possible service to my visitors, without confusing them with dozens of options on each page?

Why should I bother with all these artificial links if I can get good links and lots of traffic through article marketing? And then I realized that I had no need of the links purely as an external SEO tool; i.e. to provide me with better Google PageRank, because I was getting plenty of traffic anyway through people clicking on my links in my articles, or resource boxes.

So I decided not to! I am now going to run a few campaigns with no SEO at all other than the obvious ways of providing my visitors with a good service when they visit my website. Then I will find the truth about the matter. What is SEO: myth or reality?

Articles Marketing and SEO

Articles Marketing and SEO

Articles marketing, today, for websites and internet based companies are extremely important. Articles dictate much of the success and they drive a lot of traffic to websites. Articles has become a major element in making a website succeed and earning profits. A website webmaster and owner must have the good sense to include articles in his or her website that will work for them and earn them the many benefits articles can give to their website.

Articles have been known to be the driving force in sending quality traffic to websites. Articles are a factor in giving website high rankings in search engine result webpages. The higher a website ranks the bigger slice of the traffic flow pie websites receive. With a huge number in traffic flow, there are more profits and more potential for other income generating schemes as well.

Although, it is not just about designing your website with articles; they have certain guidelines as well. These guidelines must be met to obtain the maximum benefits an article will provide for your website. A well written article will catch the interest of web surfers and keep them coming back for more information. Web surfers would also be able to recommend your website to surfers.

Some tips to help and assist you in making your articles successful and making your website a profit earning and traffic overflowing website.

a) Keywords and Keyword Phrases, articles must revolve around the use of keywords and keyword phrases. As each website web surfer goes to a website, there are those who are just merely browsing but actually looking for a specific item or information. When this happens, a searcher usually goes to a search engine and types in the keywords they are looking for (e.g. Ford Pinto, Accountant etc.). It could be anything they want.

One important thing to understand for an article, the keywords must relate to your website's topic. For example, if you maintain a bike parts website, you must be able to have articles about bikes and their parts. There are many tools in the internet that provides service in helping a webmaster out in determining what keywords and keyword phrases are mostly sought out. You can use this tool to determine what keywords to use and write about.

b) Keyword Density, and know how much density you need to place your keywords and keyword phrases, you must use them wisely. An article must have good keyword density for a search engine to "feel" its presence. Articles should at least have ten to fifteen percent of keyword density in their content for search engines to rank a website high in their search results. Getting a high rank is what articles do best for a website.

Keyword density is the number of times a keyword or keyword phrase is used on an article. The number varies depending on the number of words used in an article. An effective article must have a keyword density that is not too high or too low. With a very high density, the essence of the article is lost and may turn off a reader as well as the search engines. It comes off as overeager. A low number may be ignored by the search engines.

c) Good Article Content, and you cannot just riddle an article with keywords and phrases, it must be regarded as good reading material for a web surfer to succeed. Articles must be able to entertain web surfers as well as provide good information and help for their needs. Articles should be written well with good grammar and correct spelling. If you want people to trust you, make your work good, and well thought out.

Web surfers will respond well to statistics, facts and figures. Try to get good information and all the facts you can find. A well written article will boost your reputation as an expert in your chosen field or topic. As more web surfers believe in you and come back for more. Web surfers will be able to trust you and your products.

d) Linking Articles, a very important part of article marking. If you are going to submit articles to ezines and/or contribute your articles to newsletters and other websites, do not ever forget to include a link to your website. A little resource box with a brief description of your website and you should always be placed right after your articles that you have submitted. If web surfers like your articles, they will return to your website for more.

Search Engine Optimization - SEO Strategies That Work

Search Engine Optimization is a method used by webmasters to achieve a better ranking in the search engine's listings for a particular website and its content pages. These methods are aimed particularly at benefiting from organic or crawler search engines. Organic searches are natural searches that don't involve pay-per-click advertising. Crawler search engines follow the links on a page from one web page to another, taking note of all the connections.

Unfortunately, SEO (search engine optimization) methods are often misunderstood and misused (even abused) by many Internet marketers. As a result, various SEO methods have come to be classified as either "white hat" (meaning that they are proper and legitimate approaches within the eyes of the search engines) or "black hat" (meaning that they are either deceptive or unethical or frowned upon by the search engines).

There are two primary arenas for search engine optimization: on page SEO and off page SEO. On page SEO generally includes providing good content for visitors, and the proper use of page titles, meta tags, header tags, text bolding, alt tags, keyword emphasis, and outbound links. Off page SEO generally includes such tactics as anchor text, article directories, link exchanges, and back links from site submissions, forum comments, and blog comments.

Let's take a quick look at some of these terms:

Page Titles: these are the words that appear in the upper left-hand corner of your browsers, in the blue bar at the top, that identify the website page you're currently on.

Meta Tags: these are tags inserted in your HTML header code that describe the subject matter of your webpage. There are two common meta tags, one for your keywords and one for a short description of the page. While Google tends to ignore these tags, other search engines will often give them added attention and use them in their descriptions of your webpages.

Header Tags: these are used to emphasize the importance of specific text within your content. They are generally used to highlight your keywords much in the same fashion as a newspaper highlights an article with a bold headline.

Text Bolding: once or twice in your content, if you use bold texting around your keyword, it's believed the search engines will give extra attention to those words.

Alt Tags: these are short descriptive words that are associated with an image on your page. For instance, if you have a web page about water skiing and there's a picture of a little girl water skiing behind a boat, you'll want to tag that photograph with a descriptive statement such as "Water Skiing Girl" that emphasizes your keyword "water skiing."

Anchor Text: these are the words that are emphasized in linking back to your web page. For instance, you could link back to your water skiing page with anchor text that simply states the URL of the page (let's say, http://yoursite.com/waterskiing.html) or you can push your keyword for that page and use "water skiing" as your anchor text.

All of these are legitimate approaches to search engine optimization, standard white hat approaches. At the end of the day, by using search engine optimization to help those visitors who come to your web page to quickly understand and interpret your content, you not only serve them better, you also make it easier for the search engines to send them your way. Relevance is the key to assuring the traffic that comes to your page is the right traffic that for that page.

SEO for Mom and Pop Shops

When I was little, my parents and I lived next to a mom and pop shop called Wascana Grocery. Run by Kenny and May Mah, this small corner grocery store had nearly everything you might need with a little something extra: that personal service that made all the difference. With butcher skills that he took pride in showing, Kenny knew exactly how my mom wanted her cuts of beef. And Mrs. Mah, smiling Mrs. Mah, she always found a way to slip the children a caramel or bubblegum before we left the store. Those little differences kept us coming back.

This was in the beginning of the 1960's and supermarkets were just starting to steamroll their way into town. When they finally arrived, it became tough for Kenny and his family to compete and they had to change. They could no longer afford being a butchery and stopped that aspect of the business, trading it for fizzy drinks and potato chips, what the convenience market demanded.

These days, mom and pop shops are alive and kicking once again -- thanks to the Internet. They are doing this by with special products for special people, or niche marketing. It isn't just the product range that makes the difference, it is the personalized service that the supermarket juggernauts of the digital world don't have the time to respond to. The little things like sending out a sample upon request or answering a simple question.

Quite often, people who love their hobby end up doing it for a business. Look around you: I'm sure you know people like this too. Music freaks who became DJs, football players who started their own sporting goods stores -- and those are just examples of people in my neighbourhood! And since there's such a great demand for online stores and e-commerce content management systems, it's easier than ever for aficionados to sell online.

So the mom and pop shop does as all mom and pop shops do: they make the deals and bring in the stock, take the pictures, get the hosting arranged, set up the website - the list goes on. But sometimes, putting the icing on the cake is the hardest part. And that icing, in this Web 2.0 world, is SEO.

Many of of our clients have these kinds of online shops. One even has a surprisingly well-developed e-commerce website; they have a unique line. Their products are of high quality. Their website works well and it has valid HTML code. They even take care to comply with the WAI accessibility standards. The only problem they have is in getting found. Their pages are SEO friendly, but not SEO ready. They target the wrong keywords.

SEO needs to become personalized too. It needs to answer to the special needs of small web business owners, to understand their markets and to know how to help them make their mark on the Web. Mom and pop shops need SEO as badly as the sovereigns of the Web. All small sites need to find their niche and get a place in the search engines or they'll need to invest more than they can afford in paid online marketing tools: AdWords and other pay-per-click (PPC) campaigns, banner ads, text link ads, paid reviews and so on.

While SEO is not the only factor in determining a website's place in this Web 2.0 world, it is still of major importance. And many times small business owners blow their chances of ranking in the search engines by employing SEO techniques that no longer comply with the current SEO standards.

For example, many small website owners, with not enough SEO knowledge, still use search engine submission software to submit their new websites to the search engines. What they don't know is that this is no longer needed and, if done too often, in could even hurt their presence into the SERPs.

The Web 2.0 is dynamic and semantic and so is the Web 2.0 SEO. So, because SEO is changing at a fast pace, small businesses need the help of a skilled SEO company, one that has the time and the willingness to listen, research and advise.

Keyword Generators - Are They Essential? Guide for Beginners

Beginners to web site building may not, at first, appreciate the importance of using good keywords for the content of their web site or, indeed, before choosing their domain names.

If you consider yourself to be a beginner, even if you know the importance of using relevant keywords for your site and domain name, you may not realise that there are keyword generators available to make the task of compiling good keywords for each page of your website as easy and as quick as possible. Furthermore, you may, also, be confused by the number of software packages being promoted on the Internet.

Are Keyword Generators Essential?

If So, Do You Really Need to Buy or Subscribe to Use One or More of Them?

The answer to the first question is a resounding "Yes!" Without a keyword generator software of some sort, Search Engine Optimization would be impossible - you would be working in the dark and your chances of having any visitors to your site (unless you spend tons of money on advertising) would be almost NIL because your site would be buried under billions of other web sites and so doomed to oblivion!

As for the second question, the answer is that you don't actually NEED to buy or subscribe to use the more sophisticated keyword generators for Search Engine Optimization, because there are several FREE options available.

A few of these permit you to use the software without payment for the trial period of up to 30 days, after which you would either have to buy one outright or, if it's a subscription-based program, begin paying every month for the privilege of continuing to use it. Other keyword generators, you will be glad to know, are totally free.

If you have more TME than money to spare, then you can simply use Overture Selection Tool combined with Google Search facilities.

Type in the root keyword(s) of your choice into Overture's search box and then dig deep (scroll down the list) to see which phrases containing your keyword, match your proposed web site content.

Double click your chosen phrase to see if the phrases below your key choice are also relevant and whether or not the searches for those are sufficient to produce "organic" or free traffic to your site.

Note the number of searches carried out by "Joe Public" for your main keyword(s) and related keyword phrases (you want to have at least a few hundred searches against your related keywords and a couple of thousand or so searches for your main keyword[s]) and then type the selected keyword and/or phrases, phrase at a time, into Google's search box to see what the competition for those keywords and/or keyword phrases might be.

The lower the number of results pages (I mean well under 100,000 pages), the less competition you will have for those keywords and so there will be a greater chance for your web site to surface for air and daylight, particularly if your site is going to be content-rich, Search Engine Optimized as opposed to being a single sales page mini-site with limited scope for much content.

Other totally free keyword generator tools would be less time-consuming for you but they, too, may be somewhat limited in the range of features they provide.

When all's said and done, you get what you pay for and whilst the free keyword generators are better than not using any, at all, you will at some stage in the future, need to consider investing in one or more sophisticated keyword generator software programs to help you to compile suitable keywords for your website, any PPC Adwords advertising and/or Adsense Marketing.

But until you generate an income from your website, you should investigate the free options, first, and read up on as many good beginners' guide to keyword research, keyword generators, keyword analyzer and SEO tools as you can.

4. Maintain links to relevant websites. If you think some sites are better off than the others, put your ads there and try to maintaining and managing them. If there is already lots of Adsense put into that certain site, put yours on top of all of them. That way visitor will see your ads first upon browsing into that site.

5. Try to automate the insertion of your Adsense code into the webpages using SSI (or server side included). Ask your web administrator if your server supports SSI or not. How do you do it? Just save your Adsense code in a text file, save it as "adsense text", and upload it to the root directory of the web server. Then using SSI, call the code on other pages. This tip is a time saver especially for those who are using automatic page generators to generate pages on their website. These are some of the tips that have worked well for some who want to generate hundreds and even thousands on their websites. It is important to know though that ads are displayed because it fits the interest of the people viewing them. So focusing on a specific topic should be your primary purpose because the displays will be especially targeted on a topic that persons will be viewing already.

Note also that there are many other Adsense sharing the same topic as you. It is best to think of making a good ad that will be somewhat different and unique than the ones already done. Every clickthrough that visitors make is a point for you so make every click count by making your Adsense something that people will definitely click on.

Just as long as you do not overstep the guidelines of the search engines, then go for it.

Also remember that it is all about location, location and location. Once the perfect attention grabbing description has been achieved, you have to identify the perfect spot on your page to position that descriptive link to your high paying page.

There is nothing wrong with visiting other websites to see how they are going about maximizing their site navigation. "Hot pages" or "Most read" lists are very common and overly used already. Get to know the ones that many websites are using and do not try to imitate them. Another way of doing it is to try and use different texts on different pages. That way you will see the ones that work and what does not. Try to mix things around also. Put links on top and sometimes on the bottom too. This is how you go about testing which ones get more clicks and which ones are being ignored.

Let the testing begin. Testing and tracking until you find the site navigation style that works best for you site.

How To Avoid Getting Your Adsense Account Terminated!

Google, being the undisputable leader in search engines from then until now, is placing a high importance on the quality and relevancy of its search engines. Most especially now that the company is public property. In order to keep the shareholders and users of its engines happy, the quality of the returned results are given extreme importance.

For this same reason, doing the wrong things in the Adsense and other forms of advertisements, whether intentionally or unintentionally, will result in a severe penalty, may get you banned and even have your account terminated. Nothing like a good action taken to keep wrongdoers from doing the same things over again.

So for those who are thinking of getting a career in Adsense, do not just think of the strategies you will be using to generate more earnings. Consider some things first before you actually get involved.

Hidden texts. Filling your advertisement page with texts to small to read, has the same color as the background and using css for the sole purpose of loading them with rich keywords content and copy will earn you a penalty award that is given to those who are hiding links.

Page cloaking. There is a common practice of using browser or bot sniffers to serve the bots of a different page other than the page your visitors will see. Loading a page with a bot that a human user will never see is a definite no-no. This is tricking them to click on something that you want but they may not want to go to.

Multiple submissions. Submitting multiple copies of your domain and pages is another thing to stay away from. For example, trying to submit a URL of an Adsense as two separate URL's is the same as inviting trouble and even termination. Likewise, this is a reason to avoid auto submitters for those who are receiving submissions. Better check first if your domain is submitted already an a certain search engine before you try to submit to it again. If you see it there, then move on. No point contemplating whether to try and submit there again.

Link farms. Be wary of who and what are you linking your Adsense to. The search engines know that you cannot control your links in. But you can certainly control what you link to. Link farming has always been a rotten apple in the eyes of search engines, especially Google. That is reason enough to try and avoid them. Having a link higher than 100 on a single page will classify you as a link farm so try and not to make them higher than that.

Page rank for sale. If you have been online for quite some time, you will notice that there are some sites selling their PR links or trading them with other sites. If you are doing this, expect a ban anytime in the future. It is okay to sell ads or gain the link. But doing it on direct advertisement of your page rank is a way to get on search engines bad side.

Doorways. This is similar to cloaking pages. The common practice of a page loaded with choice keyword ads aimed at redirecting visitors to another "user-friendly" page is a big issue among search engines. There are many seo firms offering this kind of services. Now that you know what they actually are, try to avoid them at all costs.

Multiple domains having the same content. In case you are not aware of it, search engines look at domains IP's, registry dates and many others. Having multiple domains having the same exact content is not something you can hide from them. The same goes with content multiplied many times on separate pages, sub domains and forwarding multiple domains to the same content.

Many of the above techniques apply to most search engines and is not entirely for Google only. By having a mind set that you are building your Adsense together with your pages for the human users and not for bots, you can be assured of the great things for your ads and sites. Not to mention avoiding the wrath of the search engines and getting your Adsense and site account terminated altogether.

Google Adsense + Quality Content = FAT Check From Google...Guaranteed!

To know why Adsense is essential for your content sites is to know first how this works. The concept is really simple, if you think about it. The publisher or the webmaster inserts a java script into a certain website. Each time the page is accessed, the java script will pull advertisements from the Adsense program. The ads that are targeted should therefore be related to the content that is contained on the web page serving the ad. If a visitor clicks on an advertisement, the webmaster serving the ad earns a portion of the money that the advertiser is paying the search engine for the click.

The search engine is the one handling all the tracking and payments, providing an easy way for webmasters to display content-sensitive and targeted ads without having the hassle to solicit advertisers, collect funds, monitor the clicks and statistics which could be a time-consuming task in itself. It seems that there is never a shortage of advertisers in the program from which the search engine pulls the Adsense ads. Also webmasters are less concerned by the lack of information search engines are providing and are more focused in making cash from these search engines.

The first reason why Adsense is essential for content sites is because it already has come a long way in understanding the needs of publishers and webmasters. Together with its continuous progression is the appearance of more advanced system that allows full ad customization. Webmasters are given the chance to choose from many different types of text ad formats to better complement their website and fit their webpage layout.

The different formatting enables the site owners the possibility of more click through from visitors who may or may not be aware of what they are clicking on. It can also appeal to the people visiting thus make them take that next step of looking up what it is all about. This way the people behind the Adsense will get their content read and making profit in the process. The second reason is the ability of the Adsense publishers to track not only how their sites are progressing but also the earnings based on the webmaster-defined channels. The recent improvements in the search engines gives webmasters the capability to monitor how their ads are performing using customizable reports that has the capacity to detail page impressions, clicks and click-through rates. Webmasters and publishers can now track specific ad formats, colors and pages within a website. Trends are also easily spotted.

With the real-time reporting at hand, the effectiveness of the changes made will be assessed quickly. There would be time to sort out the contents that people are making the most clicks on. The ever-changing demands would be met while generating cash for the webmasters and publishers. The more flexible tools are also allowing webmasters to group web pages by URL, domain, ad type or category, which will provide them some accurate insight on which pages, ads and domains are performing best.

The last and final reason is that the advertisers have realized the benefits associated having their ads served on targeted websites. Thus increasing the possibility that a prospective web surfer will have an interest in their product and services. All because of the content and its constant maintenance. As opposed to those who are no using Adsense in their sites, they are given the option of having other people do their content for them, giving them the benefit of having successful and money-generating web sites.

Adsense is all about targeted content, the more targeted your content is, the more target the search engines' ads will be. There are some web masters and publishers who are focused more on their site contents and how best to maintain them rather than the cash that the ads will generate for them. This is the part where the effectiveness is working its best.

There was a time when people were not yet aware of the money to be achieved from advertisements. The cash generated only came into existence when the webmasters and publishers realized how they can make Adsense be that generator. In those days, the content were the most important factors that is taken quite seriously. It still is. With the allure of money, of course.

Don't Get Caught With Google Adsense Click Fraud!

Many web site owners are getting their Google Adsense account terminated when they have done nothing wrong to deserve the punishment. Considering the money that they are getting from Adsense, they would certainly want to get back into it.

Considering the money to be made with Adsense, it is no wonder that they would want to get back into it.

It is that same consideration why the Google Adsense click fraud is thought of and why many people are getting into it.

Click fraud is the act of clicking on ads for the purpose of costing the advertiser money. It is simply the same as paying out cash for false leads. Many people website owners are aware of this fraud and are sharing the same sentiment that this is the one big problem that Adsense is facing.

How do you prevent being involved in this fraud?

Majority of web hosts are offering access logs. Once this is offered to you, it is necessary that you hand it over to Google as well. This allows them to look for any suspicious activity on your site. Problems like this are very serious and giving it to them is saying that you would want to help them in any way you can in solving the problem.

It can also help if you have a click monitoring software. If you do not have one yet, you should try and get one. There is absolutely no major factor preventing you from having one because most of this software is free.

As usual, all the information you have received should be turned over to Google. This is showing Google that you too are fighting against click frauds and is in no way a part of it.

Study your server logs and watch for any activity that seems suspicious. Report anything that you may find odd, may it big or small thing.

You may want to consider disabling ads for your own IP address and local geographic area. This will certainly prevent accidents and will not make Google mistake another user as you. You can do through a htaccess file. This will avoid Google mistaking as clicking on your own ads and be kicked out because of it.

Keep your Adsense off on pop ups and pop unders. Your ads should not be displayed on content sites that promote illegal activity or tampering of the legal rights of other people or business. Included in this are the content that is considered adult and gambling ones. If you think that you may be breaking this rule, immediately remove your content or Adsense from the web page. Be truthful and confess up to Google about times when you might have clicked on your own as, whether accidentally or intentionally. Or the times when you have done something that is against the Terms of Service that they are implementing. Be honest about anything that you may have done that is wrong. Confessing is way better than Google learning about it eventually. It would mean eventual termination and no getting back what you have worked so hard for. Do not tell your family or friends about Adsense on your website. Chances are they may start clicking on them to help you make money without you knowing it. They may be doing more harm to you than help by trying it in the first place.

If ever someone you know chanced upon your Adsense, make sure they understand that they cannot click on your ads under any circumstances. It would be wise to brief them on important things about Adsense and what not to do with them.

Most pay per click networks have different measures in hand to protect website owners against click frauds. Other search engines can track more than 50 data points, IP address, browser's information, user's session info and pattern recognition. They also have "systems" available that detects fraud. Not to mention the specialized teams monitoring how things are going and helping advertisers stop click frauds.

Google offers suggestion on how to avoid click fraud. Using "negative keywords" can be used to keep your Adsense showing on products and services that are in no way related to yours. Adding tracking URLs to your links so you can track the traffic coming from Google. Do not be caught in the Google click fraud. Be aware and be wary.
