Why Good Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Is Important

Many people new to internet marketing wonder why search engine optimization, or SEO, is so important. In explaining why, this article could be very short or very long, according to how much of the topic I wish to write on, although the answer is basically a matter of common sense.

Anybody who uses search engines to find out information, which is the vast majority of internet users, uses phrases to find the information they are seeking. These phrases, to them, best describe the information they seek. Thus, if the are looking for information on what to look for when buying a second hand car they might use the term 'buying second hand cars', or 'buying used cars', or 'how to buy used cars' and so on. Each of these terms is commonly termed a 'keyword', and searching for the most used keywords, or even lesser used keywords, is big business on the internet.

If you have a website, or even just one web page, dealing with that topic, you can optimize it only for one of these keywords if you want the bets results. Many people make the mistake of trying to optimize a webpage for all the keywords they can think of, totally ignorant of the fact that if they have 20 keywords then they should have 20 web pages, each optimized for one keyword.

Some people make millions of dollars explaining to others how to find and use these keywords on their websites, even though it is historical information. Yesterdays most frequently used keyword could never be used again for the rest of the year. Let me give you an example of that.

When I was new to internet marketing, I wrote a website to sell my trivia quizzes. I run trivia quizzes in my local pub, and at that time also sold them to pubs in nearby towns and cities and wrote a book on how to go about it. I decided to advertise it online and also to sell my trivia quizzes. I paid $6,500 for a mentor from Corey Rudl's Internet Marketing Center to teach me how to do it, and I was shown how to use keyword research to publicize my book.

My mentor ended up recommending I use the keyword 'black American history quiz' since it had a very high demand and low supply: so I did. Silly me! He was Canadian, and he didn't know that the word 'quiz' in the USA can also apply to a school exam, and the 'black American history quiz' was in demand by American high school kids for an exam on the topic.

I spent a fortune and made zilch. That is the last time I paid for information, and I was ripped off by the late Corey Rudl and his so-called Internet Marketing Center. At least that is my experience. It was only later that I found I could have got the same information free by registering for a few newsletters from other marketers.

I ended up losing many thousands of dollars through that experience, and using the bad information I was given, and am only now making up for it. That is the importance of knowing how to use SEO in your website. Learn how to select and use proper keywords, and do not be mislead by trends or spikes due to high school exams or current news as I was.

There are techniques to use to ensure that your website gets traffic from people browsing the web for information. If you know these techniques, you can make money from any topic, or niche, even if you personally know nothing about it. I have many websites on a number of topics, each of which makes me money in many different ways. There is no reason why you should do the same.

However, to do that, you must learn how to optimize each of the pages on your website. Stop regarding the site as an entity. It is the collection of pages that is important, each of those of which has to be treated as a separate entity. Every page will be listed separately in the search engines, and you need to know how to treat each differently, and how to optimize each so that every one will be listed in the search results when somebody uses your keyword to find the information they are seeking.

Good search engine optimization is very important, and without a good understanding of SEO, your internet business will have less a chance of success.

SEO Tips for your Website

Believe it or not but with the help of search engine optimization (SEO) your website can actually make a substantial amount of money for you. SEO will hell help to increase the quality of traffic that is getting driven to your website. The higher the quality of traffic getting driven to your website, the more sales you will make, or the more paid ad clicks you will have a chance of getting. Your website can be product based or sponsor based but either way you will be able to make a lot of cash with SEO.

There are a few key things to keep in mind when trying to get more quality traffic sent to your website. For starters make sure that you have high quality content. There is not a way around this so don’t even try to find a short cut. Also keep in mind that hot keywords will always change so you need to have the best tool in order to keep track of which keywords are the most popular right now.

Another great way to SEO is to increase the total number of back links to your website as much as you possibly can. By having the highest quality content you can get this will eventually come on its own but you can help speed up the process by promoting your website in blogs, forums, as well as discussion boards. Exchanging links is another way to help this process.

It is also important to use keywords in your content combining with an appropriate amount of keyword density which is about three to five percent. You don’t want to over use keywords as this has an adverse effect, no more than fifteen perfect for big name search engines such as Google. You will obviously need to submit your website to search engine if you want to be able to get ranked.

How Article Directories Help your SEO

It is possible to use article services and search engine optimization (SEO) together to form the perfect combination to attract high amounts of traffic to your website. This may sound difficult or time consuming but the process is so powerful if you know how to do it correctly. Even though you can’t learn everything there is to know about SEO and article directories in one small article, there are multiple websites which offer a few important tips that are very helpful.

The first step in this process is to start writing articles your self or invest in someone else’s writing services. You should be writing or getting a minimum of at least two articles per week on the subject of your website. The more the better, so if you can write ten articles a week that’s even better.

It’s also best if you get more than one website, having at least two. If you don’t have the extra cash to afford two different web hosts then find one that allows unlimited sub-domains so that you can have multiple independent websites. Be sure to optimize each page as well as you can, and link them to one another. All of the topics or niches should be complementary to each for maximum benefit.

There are many offsite actions that you can make to increase the odds of your web pages appearing high in Google listings. For starters you should have a minimum of ten pages on each web site, the more the better, It is easier than you think to keep making additional pages once you design on page to use as a template for the others, then add all of the links to it that you want on each page. Then you need to write articles on the topics of each new page on your site then submit them as many article directories as possible.

How To Maximize Your Adsense CTR - AND Earnings Per Click

You will have 3-4 ads on your page MAX. (NOT ad blocks. ADS). The fewer Adsense ads show on a page, the higher the average earnings per click for you.

If you place more ads on your page, they will show ads that rank lower on Adwords (and are cheaper). You don't want people to click on ads that pay you $0.05. You want them to click on ads that pay you $0.50! Adwords are generally disproportionately expensive on the top positions. After a while, the bids "normalize" and you won't get paid as much for showing that "Adsense" on your site.

Also keep in mind that many options confuse people. Give them few links to click on.

Don't forget to create channels to track your ads. You can set up a new channel by following this path inside your Adsense account:

Adsense set up ==> Channels ==> Add new custom channels

Be descriptive in your channel name so you know what is going on and you don't get confused. For example, if you have a page on golf clubs and you are testing a 250X250 square on the top left of the screen, use a name like: golfclub250X250left

Also make sure that you don't use channels you have used in ads in previous different markets. I have found that this can confuse the system some times and your page can show ads for the OLD market you were in. This happens especially if there is not a lot of ad inventory in the new market you are in.

Many webmasters like the big rectangle. Why? Because it works! It gets very good CTR. However, I'm not sure that most people have actually tracked the profitability of their ads. Different markets can respond differently BUT, here are a few things to consider:

The 250X250 square, has almost the exact same look like the big rectangle. One ad below the other. But it shows three ads instead of four. What does that mean? It means that you give your visitors fewer options to choose from (but not too few) and they may decide to click more easily. Not only that but you now eliminated the 4th ad which would be, on average, the lowest paying of the four.

Can we push this even more? We can. We can create a similar block of ads with only two ads this time. Just create two 234X60 half banner ads and put one under the other. You now have a "mini rectangle" with only two ads. In many markets, two ads is the sweet spot not only as far as CTR but also as far as earnings per click go.

What about having only one ad then? This would definitely give you the highest earnings per click. But one ad usually doesn't give people that much of an option. If it's not compelling enough, they won't click it. I would have at least two ads on my page.

Note: if you use the trick with the two half banners one on top of the other, make sure that you use different channels. I found that, if I use the same channel name, the exact same ad can show twice on my page! Use different channel names. It makes sense from a tracking standpoint anyway.

Make sure you disable the "advertise on this site" link that your Adsense ads show by default. This will make your ads look less like, well, ads - and more like helpful resources. Login to your Adsense account and click "My Account". Scroll down where it says: Onsite Advertiser Sign-Up [edit]. Under that it should say: Subscription: You are not currently subscribed to Onsite Advertiser Sign-Up. If it says you are signed up, click the edit link and uncheck the box on the next page. All "advertise on this site" links on your ads should disappear in a few hours max

How To Improve Your Adsense Quality Score

Most people have no idea that this even exists. Yes, there is a quality score for Adsense as well " not just for Adwords. If your site has a low AQS (Adsense Quality Score), then it will be "smartpriced" and you will get paid less for the clicks your site generates.

Since we are in the business of making more money, let’s see some of the things you can do to prevent this from happening...

You need to know that Google has some universal rules that they apply to pretty much everything they do.

If a page has certain qualities, it will rank higher on Google

If a page has certain qualities, it will get a higher quality score in Adwords

If a page has certain qualities, it will display Adsense ads that pay you more.

Here are some of the things you can do to improve your Adsense Quality Score:

- Add quality links to your pages - Add related keywords to your main term: If you have a page about "seduce women" you may consider including some keywords like "pick up artist", "dating" etc... - Use Terms of service and privacy policy links on your page. Yes, this can result in a higher Adsense quality score. Do it. - Try to make your site more interactive so that visitors will stay on it longer. Google thinks that, if someone spends more time on your site, it must be high quality. Adding comment forms, special reports, videos etc can make your visitors stay more on your aite. - Tell your visitors to bookmark your site (Google considers this a good sign of high quality as well)
